North Pole Junction, LNWR box on the Jointly owned GW/LNWR West London line. View looking north towards Willesden High Level (out of sight) and the WCML and the North London Railway. This was a vital connection between the northern and southern railway networks. Slipping off downhill on the right is a connection into Paddington with also a left-hand turn to go west onto the GWR route. I took this in 1976. Went into the signal box and the West Indian signalman shared his fried breakfast with me – insisted I share it. A generous man.
Old Oak Common Locomotive Yard Signal Box. Photo taken after I’d walked here from North Pole Jc. Controlling the exit/entrance to this vital locomotive depot.
